From Freedom comes Holiday To-Do List

comes in many forms. Being free of exams and assessments, that's one way of achieving freedom. They say man can go and get freedom, work to free himself. But hey, you just wait for assessments to come, so they're not really in your power. And so, it's basically guaranteed freedom. And holidays are coming up! YAY!!! But the thing is with holidays is that you get bored so quickly. You can end school and be like YAY HOLIDAYS and play copious amounts of games/watch copious amounts of show but then they all run out somehow and you get bored. Sometime's I get bored within the first few hours. It really is too easy to get bored in the holidays. But I have a shite load of things to do in the holidays...so perhaps it won't be too bad. If you don't want read what I have to do in the holidays, you might want to skip the next few dot points:
HOLIDAY TO DO LIST
  • Clear up your table. It's a mess. The stacks of books and pages are higher than your head, they're just in 3 separate piles. This will take me a good hour or so.
  • Clear up your school folders. They're a mess. Sort out what is junk and what's not and file it useful stuff away and trash the useless stuff. This will take me a good hour or so.
  • And while your work area is clean, GIVE IT A GOOD SCRUBBING. There's rubber shavings and dust in the corners. Also wipe the monitor, I think it has food juices on it.
  • Also vacuum the damn place. And vacuum the computer, last time I did I swear it was growing fur. Also, does anybody know how to get rid of stains in the carpet? They've been in there for a long time...
  • Do Engineering Report on Brakes (that will actually be fun. actually, i thought it was on aeronautics but now its on brakes so less fun :/ )
  • Read Schlenker (Engi Textbook) especially on phase diagram and microstructures (more Engi stuff)
  • Write up Engineering Notes
  • Do Economics Notes. Like...ch 8 to ch 14 excl. ch 11 and 12. Sigh... this will take a while and a lot of paper
  • Speaking of paper, buy some more loose leaf paper. You're running out. You're also referring to yourself in second person (?). Stop that. As I was saying, I need to buy myself some stationery, mostly more books and a bag, a hole is developing in the bottom. A bag isn't considered stationery, right?
  • Back to economics. Do the trial papers. God, that'll be tedious. Also read the World Bank report on China...I think they have one... Paix was saying...
  • Do some parametric representation. As in, teach yourself. Or at least try. Big ask, I know. Last time I tried to teach myself integration and I failed. Dismally.
  • Physics assessment. How boring. Need to buy m'self a laser...
  • Also make some physics notes. Won't hurt.
  • Now onto the fun part. Watch HIMYM Season 4 (thanks Shirley) and Inglourious Basterd (thanks Internet). Also, I need to grab the SNSD videos off Sandra.
  • And don't forget to play some ball and sleep a lot.
Wow...looking back on that, I'm going to have a really bad holiday. Loaded with work...oh well. This hols is gonna suck, fo shizzle.

Jolene's Blog request: Epic Games Night
So Games Night is a thing run by Jolene's youth group (which is the same as Martin's and Sandra's) and as the name suggests, it's a games night and apparently it's going to be epic. I'm going. So is Anthony I think. I have a bring some money, that's right, but we don't get to buy food. That is definitely the worst part of it because I will have just finished basketball and I will be starving. And late, as well. And possibly sweaty. And there's a sports theme. Casual Bball gear it is.

Steph's Blog request: Steak
So there's a lot to say about steak... but because there's so much I don't want to say so much. Yes, Steph, this might be a bit disappointing. I ate a 500g rump steak a few days ago, it wasn't too bad. Took a while, the mashed potato had all hardened. But the steak itself wasn't too bad. I think the waitress sniggered at me when I said I was eating the steak. My dad heard and when she left he said to me, "What, can't a little Asian kid eat some meat?". I nodded in agreement. It took me 20-30 minutes to finish the steak. Wagyu steak is still the best. The most expensive, but SO worth it, assuming it's good. Ribs 'n' Rump is an AWESOME steakhouse, much better than Hog's Breath. The ads for Hogs Breath are so bag, you got a guy in a pig suit jumping around with one cheerleader who has been digitally multiplied. Also, note, that the best sauce for steak is, well, Steak Sauce. It's like HP Sauce. It's better than tomato sauce or Worcestershire sauce.

Steph's photo request: My favourite SNSD member
It's the one on the left. Yuri just happens to be in the picture. She might even be 2nd fav... Hm.

Game 7

AND IT'S OVER! NBA PLAYOFFS ARE OVER! HOW EXCITING WAS GAME 7! HOW DID BOSTON THROW AWAY THAT MASSIVE LEAD? KOBE SHOULD BE KISSING HIS TEAM MATES' ASSES BECAUSE HE WAS SHOOTING LIKE SHIT. AND NOW IT'S ALL OVER! How sad. Now we'll have to wait for a very long time, whilst dealing with the World Cup and bitch annoying assessments. I can't believe I stayed up to watch the AUS v GHA game. Well, I guess it was worth it in the sense that it was a quick/active game, like, constant pressure. But not worth it in the fact that it ended up being a draw. What I will say is that the refs are stupid. Stop giving away soft penalties and that red card was bullshit. There's already enough hub-bub regarding Kewell's red so I'll leave it at that.

In slightly more exciting news, we got moved up a pool in Basketball. How exciting. 18b's. I'm excited. Now we can play some decent teams. On the topic of basketball, I am issuing a challenge to myself/to Martin because he likes to challenge me. I will, one day, own a singlet/piece of clothing from every NBA team.

.
Woo! New keyboard and speakers. My new keyboard with its black keys and silver/clear everything else is awesome. Actually, I think it's old but it replaces my previous, brick-like dirty-white keyboard thing which had food/sauce/liquids in between the keys. Whenever I typed, it was really obvious. My new keyboard is softer. This is awesome. Also, I have new speakers. Actually, I have external speakers now, because previously, I had in-built speakers in my monitor which was shit because whenever I turned off the monitor, the sound would cut out as well, which was lame, especially whenever I was listening to music. And my speakers are sideways. As in, the bottom of the 2 speakers are screwed into the walls of my desk. Like, there are these small cupboard things without the door (there must be a name for these thigns) that are part of my desk and my dad screwed the speakers into these things. I dunno. Poor description, whatever. Main thing is that I have external speakers and my monitor looks like it has ears.

Also, I'm listening C-pop now, courtesy of Gemma and another friend of mine. It's quite exciting. It definitely suits my taste of music/is better than K-pop at the moment. I just realised I'm not really IN with Asian music. I was copying Gemma's music onto my computer and I came across 周杰伦 and I thought, this guy's alright. And I thought he was another random Asian artist but then my mum told me he was Jay Chou. :/ Cheer Chen is really quite awesome. Her awesomeness is propelled by the fact that she shares the same birthday as me. I'll be half her age in 3 years.

What's more, is that I may/may not plan to have a blogging hiatus, with the assessments coming up. Chances are that I won't blog till after Eco. Which is... the 28th ... so... yeah. I might post a video or a post if anybody/Martin requests one. And no Martin, I'm not doing an essay on Jason Koong unless you give me a thesis or something.

Also yeah, notice the changed blog layout? I didn't make it, I am incapable of that.

Jealousy.

It's a common thing. Everybody gets jealous at one point of another. It might not be one of those movie-type jealous where some dude goes around hating everybody and kills people. It those petty pangs of jealousy where you're like: "Damn, I wish I had that" or "I want to do that". So, because I can't think of anything else, here is a list of Petty Pangs of Jealousy.
  • I am jealous of guys who can cook. Or any woman who can cook. I wish I could. That is so useful, makes me independent. Also, apparently you can get the ladies if you know how to cook.
  • I am jealous of guys who can breakdance/pop 'n' lock. Or any woman who can breakdance and/or pop 'n' lock. It looks so cool. The photo on Sandra's Tumblr made me even more jealous. How cool does THAT look! It's awesome and romantic, at the same time. It takes skill. It also gets the ladies.
  • I am jealous of guys who can sing. Or any woman who can sing. Singing is a skill for life. It impresses everybody, including the ladies.
  • I am jealous of guys with a six pack. Or an eight pack. I'm not quite so jealous of any woman with a six/an eight pack. It doesn't hurt to have visible abs without tensing or abs that only appear after showering/exercise or those that only appear under halogen lights at an angle. It also gets the ladies.
  • I am jealous of tall guys. It doesn't hurt to be tall, like 6 foot 6. I just wish I was 6 foot. It feels bad to be only 5 foot 8. I want to hit 6 foot. Then I could easily touch the rim. I'm only 4 inches or so off. This usually gets the ladies.
  • I am jealous of guys with high vertical leaps. Long story short, it doesn't hurt to be able to dunk. For some reason, THIS doesn't get the ladies but you can impress everybody 'cos they'll be like: "ZOMGOSH AN ASIAN DUNKS!"
  • I am jealous of guys who are multilingual. And of women who are multilingual. Being multilingual is a skill for LIFE. Seriously, this is so useful. Knowing more languages doesn't hurt, in fact, it helps in EVERYTHING. Also, it gets a lot of ladies.
There's probably more, but I've either forgotten them/don't wish to disclose them. I also don't know why I put "gets the ladies" or something along those lines at the end of each dot. It just seems to be a recurring theme.

Also, hey. This is my 50th post. Woot! Milestone. /me is unimpressed. I would say leave a comment about your Petty Pangs of Jealousy but nobody seems to leave a comment anyway.

THE birthday present

Yes, I got a birthday but no, it is not my birthday. More on that later. Firstly, some business. As Martin requested me to blog about Jason Koong, I will blog about Jason Koong. Frankly, I don't know what Martin wants me to talk about. I mean, we all aspire to be Jason Koong and want to have his babies, but you really have to know him to see what he's like. Strutting a fauxhawk, he's the epitome of cool and crazy. At the same time. One of his many talents is being able to sing "Staying Alive" by the Bee Gees, perfectly. Lyrics and pitch, perfectly. To the exact word and octave. Not only is he cool, calm and collected, he has an emotional side, which I believe attracts the ladies. His heart secretes a special liquid through his eyes periodically throughout the day, a unique substance that lures the females around him like a pieces of paper to a charged perspex rod. We call it "tears". Or something.

And now, I present to you, my early birthday present! It was from Sandra, to whom I say THANKYOU! It's posters of all nine members of SNSD in the Oh! concept. They're pretty big, so it's a bit of a trouble to put them all up in my room. I think I can fit all nine onto my two walls (the other two walls are a window and wardrobe) but I haven't done it yet, I've just kept Sooyoung up there (Y). I was hoping that I would have more basketball posters than any other posters let alone SNSD posters, so I'm ashamed to admit that the current ratio is undefined. Now, I think I don't dislike the Oh! concept quite so much, despite the frazzled/permed wigs which make me want to cry sometimes. Having said that, Hyoyeon's poster is hilarious and shocking at the same time because of her Mickey Mouse hair. So I present to you, the posters!

Saved the best till last.
